About PublicHealthIndia.in

PublicHealthIndia.in is an evidence-based public health information platform dedicated to translating peer-reviewed research into clear, actionable knowledge for India’s general public, health professionals, and policymakers.

We believe the gap between what science knows and what communities can act on is one of the most preventable causes of poor health outcomes in India. This site exists to close that gap — one well-explained study at a time.

Our Mission

Our mission is to make public health science accessible, credible, and relevant to the Indian context. Every article on this site is grounded in peer-reviewed evidence, written in plain language, and framed around what it means for India’s health systems, policies, and everyday lives. We do not publish opinion pieces or anecdotal health advice. We translate real research into real understanding.

Who Runs This Site

PublicHealthIndia.in is created and managed by Dr. Vikar Saiyad, a public health strategist and researcher with extensive experience in district-level implementation research, program monitoring, and maternal and neonatal health in India.

Dr. Saiyad has led epidemiological surveillance and evidence-based decision-making during the COVID-19 pandemic, and currently works as an implementation research partner focused on achieving single-digit neonatal mortality through systems strengthening and evidence-based program implementation across Indian districts.

All content on this site is authored by Dr. Saiyad directly or produced under his editorial supervision, ensuring that every article meets the site’s standards for accuracy, evidence quality, and India-specific relevance. Read his full profile here.

Editorial Standards

Every article on PublicHealthIndia.in follows a strict editorial process:

  • Evidence-first: All factual claims are grounded in primary sources — peer-reviewed journals (Lancet, NEJM, JAMA, BMJ), WHO, ICMR, NHM reports, and government health data. We do not use news articles, press releases without journal backing, or Wikipedia as primary sources.
  • India context: Every article is framed within the Indian public health system — with references to PMJAY, NHM, ICMR data, and local disease burden where relevant.
  • Plain language: Technical terms are always explained. We write for both the general public and policymakers — never assuming prior clinical or research knowledge.
  • Medical disclaimer: All health-related content carries a clear reminder that it is for informational purposes only and does not replace professional medical advice.
  • Transparency: When evidence is limited or inconclusive, we say so directly. We do not overstate findings or omit limitations.
